I believe it is very relevant! The book exposes how the GB evolved, changed, came to their spiritual "insights" and conlusions; it exposes blatant hypocrisy, inconsistencies, abuses of power, guessing at scriptural meanings, backstabbing, power struggles, doctrinal problems.... I make it sound a bit boring perhaps, but it is an honest and painful documentary...

I agree with the above poster who said that if you are still afraid, you are still under their control.... But don't let that stop you! :) When I began reading the book, I was terrified and afraid too..... For many of us, it helped open our eyes and cement the view that the leaders of the organization were nothing more than arrogant, bumbling men trying to control other people's lives.

Has anyone noticed how in the October JW Broadcast, Losch encourages good works towards ALL people?

i can't help but notice how this past year alone has seen the gb start to turn more towards the teachings of the christ instead of peddling their falsities.. study articles have talked in length about the fine works of christ.

assemblies have been dedicated to speaking about christ.

and this month's broadcast is about doing good to others copying the example christ left for us.. what's more shocking is that losch actually says kids should speak, share, and even give food and clothing to non-believers!!

Alive! & Sparrowdown, so true! The WTS has always looked down on material giving and traditional understanding of works of charity, as it supposedly produces "rice Christians". They promoted their literature as being the highest form of helping people, using the principal about "feeding a man a fish for a day vs. teaching him how to fish."

Above all, we were to use our time and energies in the all-important preaching work in this time of the end..... Helping orphans and widows and feeding people if they are hungry, etc., was all to be done in a SPIRITUAL (thus, invisible?) sense.....

Watchtowers million dollar scam

back in the late eighties i was on the committee to build our cities new double kingdom hall so that all five halls would be under one roof.

we needed to come up with five hundred thousand dollars to complete the new hall, so we had a kingdom hall fund drive where the local brothers would raise the needed funds.

after two years we had collected the half million dollars, and guess where that money went????????

My Mother Died Two Weeks Ago

I lost my mom recently, only 4 months ago, and am so sorry to hear this.

Unbelievable how cold and truly thoughtless they are, I cannot imagine the full tumult of feelings & emotions that you must be going through.

Just... Breathe... I had a social worker at my mom's nursing home tell me that when emotions or thoughts become too intense, take at least 3 slow, deep breaths in and out... repeat as necessary... It is supposed to help reset something in your brain she said, and I have found it somewhat helpful. Other times I just need to scream and cry and feel the pain. Be gentle with yourself.

Look at the wee thumbnail photo of the Watchtower magazine about honesty -- A HAND REACHING TOWARD A WALLET -- hahahahahaha! Nothing "relevant" there, eh? Hahaha

And what a stupid photo at the top -- showing two people, probably missionaries, talking to the man with the heavily-loaded oxen-drawn cart. The two sisters are totally clueless about Bulls. One stands right behind the TAIL of one of them, and the other very close to the bull's horns. And also standing so close to such a heavy cart, with the man controlling the two oxen with such flimsy, thin looking rope.

( kinda like how the WT's own chariot is heavily loaded, ready to whack you in the face with a shitty tail or gouge you with its horns, or liable to go out of control at any moment! - while the pubs draw close and stand so close to it, unaware of any danger....)

.... And for those who like to look for satanic images in WT pictures, haha, see how the ox's horns dominate the perspective, rising up from the bottom of the photo.... (just throwing that out there. Ya never know.... ;)

You know what else makes me mad when I read their crap now -- is how it's all about them and keeping your focus on them -- they talk about building "spiritual qualities" and "maintaining a good relationship with Jehovah" by reading their stupid literature, studying their stupid literature, making comments at meetings about and from their stupid literature, and then trying to get total strangers to read their stupid literature too! It's all about following their program -- a treadmill of meetings, field service, study, blech!!

NOTHING about good deeds, charity toward others, being kind and helpful... Or spending your time with family & friends, or doing volunteer work that has practical value. Just slog along on their treadmill, with everybody supposed to be doing the same thing, no matter that we are all different .... and even their stupid Bible texts say that "not all of you should become teachers," etc., and that different body parts all have different functions....

Bah.

"In willingness I will sacrifice to you."—Ps. 54:6.

Certain sacrifices are fundamental for all true Christians and are essential to our cultivating and maintaining a good relationship with Jehovah. Such sacrifices include devoting personal time and energy to prayer, Bible reading, family worship, meeting attendance, and the field ministry. (Josh. 1:8; Matt. 28:19, 20;Heb. 10:24, 25) As a result of our efforts and Jehovah’s blessing, the preaching work is accelerating, and many continue to stream to “the mountain of the house of Jehovah.” (Isa. 2:2)

To support Kingdom activities, many make sacrifices to serve at Bethel, to assist with building Kingdom Halls and Assembly Halls, to organize conventions, or to do relief work in the wake of natural disasters. This additional work is not a requirement to gain life but is vital to supporting Kingdom interests. It is a joy to see that many are willingly making sacrifices for Jehovah. w13 12/15 2:2, 3

You know what is really weird though, that in Lett's talk from the WT /JW broadcast channel given TO JWs, he said, "...As an example, think about the apostate-driven lies & dishonesties that Jehovah's organization is permissive toward pedophiles."

What I don't get is why any JW would even know about this, most have their heads buried in the sand (unless, sadly, it's happened to them or someone they know). So Lett is bringing something up -- from "apostates"!!! (supposedly) -- which JWs are supposed to "think about," then, in the next breath, totally dismiss and view as ridiculous lies.

I know, it's all part of damage control. Still, it's all just so stupid.

Such weirdness -- "THINK ABOUT these apostate driven lies - and now don't think about them. They are lies."
